Hello to all.   I am Cindy Thompson.  I have been working in long term care and assisted living for approximately 12 years and have been the Activities Director at Dinwiddie Health and Rehab since March 2014.

Prior to entering the health care field, I taught pre-school.  When my husband was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease it was a wake-up call and I knew one day I would probably have to support myself so I started looking for another career.  I was given the opportunity to work PRN in admissions in another LTC facility then an opening came up for an activities assistant so I took that position.  I absolutely loved it!  After working both jobs for a few months, I gave up teaching pre-school and have been working in activities since then.

I never thought I would be working in this field however life led me down this path and I truly believe God put me here for a reason. I have met and grown to love some amazing people along the way and have learned so much from them.

My work family is truly a family!  They have been supportive to me both in my career as well as my personal life Dinwiddie Health & Rehab Center is “home.”   I have been able to advance my training in Dementia care, as well as, other areas related to offering care and compassion to our residents and patients.

Outside of work I am widowed however, I do have someone special in my life again to spend time with.  I have 2 children and I am very close to my extended family.  I enjoy working in the yard, weekend getaways, camping, and I enjoy singing in the church choir.   Faith, family, and friends are the most important thing to me.
